Join C'era Una Volta for our first annual celebration of Italian food, life, and culture with the centuries-old festival of Zabaglione, Italy's renowned virility-inspiring dessert. Since 1722, when Saint Pasquale de Baylon recommended this light, frothy custard for those supplicants needing a little extra vim and vigor, it has been one of Italy's most popular dishes. Every year, on May 17th, Italians celebrate Saint Pasquale, the patron saint of chefs, by cooking and consuming Zabaglione. Now C'era Una Volta, a restaurant dedicated to authentic Italian cuisine, invites you to spend the weekend with us cooking, eating, dancing, and laughing. It's the Italian way.

The event is free and open to all, with live music, tasty treats, wine, and friendly contests.

Schedule of Events:

• Barbecue Cook-off 
Saturday May 15 2pm 
Watch Chef Rudy Duran and Cheryl Principato fire up the coals as they face off in an Italian barbeque cook-off, with four special guest judges. Enjoy the fruits of their labor in a post-judging audience taste test.  
 
• Zabaglione Contest 
 
 Sunday May 16 @ 2pm
Think you have what it takes to produce an award-winning virility custard? All aspiring chefs are welcome to enter in the Zabaglione contest and compete for our coveted prizes. 
First Prize: One Chef Dinner for Two including wine pairing Second Prize: Gondola Ride for Two on Lake Merritt Third Prize: One Bottle of Wine We'll provide ingredients and utensils. • ZABFest Vitality Contest: A dating game-style contest!

A contest for you men to prove your Zabaglione-inspired vitality. Do you have the strength, stamina, and personal character to do credit to Italy's most viril dessert? The winner gets to be posted on our website as the C'era Una Volta Man who puts the Volt into C'era Una Volta!!
